Poverty (HIV in Uganda)

[edit]

As a result, young women tend to have older and more sexually experienced partners and this puts women at a disproportionate risk of getting affected by HIV, accounting for about 57 per cent of all adults living with HIV in Uganda.[124] → The figure in this sentence is gravely wrong. From the original reference, it is 5.7 per cent, not 57 per cent.

Original reference is below:

Population of capital city

[edit]

The lead says 8.5 million live in the capital and largest city, Kampala. This is in conflict with the Kampala's own article, where the in the lead says the Kampala metro area has a population "estimated at 6,709,900", The infobox has that number for the metro area , in addition to the city's population. The numbers should be consistent across wiki.

Lead and Precolonial History Copyedit

[edit]

I have performed a general cleanup and copyedit on the article's lead and precolonial history sections to improve encyclopedic tone, readability, and structure per WP:MOS.

Specifically, I:

  • Refined the prose for neutral tone and flow (WP:NPOV).
  • Ensured historical statements and recent census data are backed by reliable inline citations (WP:VERIFY).
  • Standardized template formatting in the lead and infobox.

Feedback and further discussions are welcome! Christophebiluge (talk) 10:04, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi Christophebiluge! First of all, I reverted your edit, because it deleted a huge part of the article. Second, I am non-native English and I can make mistakes, but even to my "ears" this sounds LLM-generated: "Geographically diverse, Uganda features volcanic terrain, elevated plateaus, and extensive water systems, anchored by Lake Victoria—the world's second-largest freshwater lake. The national economy is driven predominantly by services and agriculture, alongside emerging oil reserve development. Its rich biodiversity and protected national parks support a vital eco-tourism industry." Lova Falk (talk) 10:43, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi Lova Falk, thank you for letting me know and sorry about that! I see where I went wrong deleting that text, and I completely understand why you reverted it. I'll stick to making small, simple grammar fixes directly by hand from now on instead of trying to do large rewrites. I appreciate the guidance!
