Source for how Tycho lost his nose is dubious.

The citation for the assertions that Tycho's nose was injured in a duel about who was the better mathematician is to an unavailable issue of the Annals of Improbable Research. Given that the story is very much the kind of thing seems apocryphal, I feel that a better source is needed for this. JPGoldberg (talk) 02:24, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Tycho Brahe's measurements were the most accurate available to Kepler, and therefore are important in the history of science. But Ulugh Beg's observatory in Samarkand, built in 1428, included a 40-metre quadrant with which he made very accurate measurements more than a century before Tycho Brahe's.
