One of the things that was best at keeping the 2-mile interesting was the slow inching down to 8 minutes. There's no better way to illustrate that than to look at the number of sub-8 2-miles. A miler is considered world class, eligible at least to compete in grand prix, if he can break 4 minutes. He won't win if that's all he can do, but it's still got some of the magic it once did, and everyone who goes to track meets knows a sub-4 race is always worth watching. Komen is the first and only human to turn in two sub-4's back to back. It would be nice to have a link to video about that amazing event on this page, particularly considering it's one of the only remaining reason's anyone is ever interested in the 2-mile. Wonder why nobody's done it since 1997?
