Azerbaijan (Azarbaijan) is a region in northwest of Iran. The Republic of Azerbaijan is a country in Caucasus. These regions are not Turkish. Their language belongs to the Turkic group of Altaic but this is not a good reason to put their name under the name Turkish. Doing that is like puting the name England under the heading German, just because English language is a Germanic language! --Mani1 18:11, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)

What if we consider directly their option? I have met a lot of people from there and they define themselves as Turkish (also they like erdogan too for some reason) Fraghera (talk) 02:43, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
