Are lists of the best art clickbait?
[edit]On the 27th, I edited the Wikipedia page for Chris Burden's work Trans-Fixed (1974) by noting in the "Analysis and legacy" section that "In 2013, Dale Eisinger of Complex ranked Trans-Fixed the 13th greatest work of performance art ever.[1]" I was somewhat surprised by the explanation given for this edit, which was that "13 of 25 in a clickbait article isn't an encyclopedic accolade". As an inclusionist, I do not see why removal of the ranking is necessary – and, given the reliability of the source, I don't view the article as mere clickbait. - Correct, this listicle isn't some definitive ranking in that "13 of 25" imparts some special value to the reader. Complex Networks runs enough "Top X" articles to warrant the pejorative "clickbait". Note how the article gave little to no detail on why each item deserved its relative ranking—this isn't a source known for analytic depth. czar 07:18, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
