As requested by TheMandarin:

  • legendary, fantastic can be treated as glorifying. Replace/remove/reword
  • According to one disciple biographer (who??), he was born in 1529, while according to another biographer (who??) it was 1607
  • many places on pilgrimage: names?
  • Ganapati reportedly led a life of severe austerities: avoid the word. Instead say "According to X, Ganapati led..."
  • "finally in the courtyard of the small abode of Mangal Das Bhatta, his devotee, where a huge rock lying under the sky was his resting place." unclear. reword. Does resting place mean final resting place?
  • Explain WP:JARGON: ajagaravritti, paramahansa, mahasamadhi, salilasamadhi etc. with short english explanation
  • "authentic" biography of the Swami by Umacharan Mukhopadhyay: who says so?? Can be WP:POV of author
  • As a rule, lead is summary of the article. No new information is usually added. Move new information
  • Discuss 300 or 200+ age after death in detail (which biographer says what)
  • Why is 1607 given priority, it is also disputed? What about 1529?
  • I am not sure if many aspects of the article are mentioned here: see Autobiography of a Yogi , --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:32, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the comments. --TheMandarin (talk) 12:41, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
For quite a few of details I need to refer back to the book, to which I don't have access right now. I agree that "one disciple biographer", "another biographer" are weasel words and vague. Will fix these along with attributions to specific biographers. --TheMandarin (talk) 13:04, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Veracity of Article

[edit]

this article has wild claims, like that this man lived nearly 300 years. If we're going to treat this as fact, may as well put down Abraham from the Bible for 1000 years on his wiki page.

This article should be heavily censored/revised or removed altogether. Misinformation is the most dangerous information of all. 2600:1700:10B7:1400:5295:67EC:DB7A:D03D (talk) 20:01, 4 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

To add, pages like this, are Wikipedia isnt considered a valid source to cite. 2600:1700:10B7:1400:5295:67EC:DB7A:D03D (talk) 20:02, 4 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's not just the ridiculously exaggerated age. The whole section presents absurd legends as facts and as a biography in Wikipedia's voice, without the slightest sceptical distance. Only credible to someone who is completely ignorant of scientific knowledge. Wikipedia is a science-based encyclopedia (WP:SPOV), not a collection of mythical hagiographies. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 11:02, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
