Its not a "weighted sum"

[edit]

Its not a "weighted sum" because you get one-base for every bag you touch. If you hit a single you get 1-base, for a double, you get 2-bases, for a triple you get 3-bases and for a homer you get 4-bases. That's not weighted, its one for one. The little formula they show with the Total Bases definition just looks scary but its really is just what it says. Total number of bases touched. 152.179.76.94 (talk) 17:55, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

The (unweighted) sum of singles, doubles, triples, and home runs is 'hits'. The weighted sum is 'total bases'. Mindmatrix 19:40, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Most TB in an interleague game - why?

[edit]

How is this "record" notable? Is getting hits any more difficult or significant when done versus a team from the other league, or is it similar to, say, "most total bases on a Wednesday"? Yitz711 (talk) 17:16, 14 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
