Notability?
[edit]I appreciate that this page was probably started in tribute to the subject (noting the year of death in the article), but the article does not currently satisfy WP:GNG in my opinion. Is there anything which would make the subject notable, other than him being a socialist and an Italian lecturer? Strange Passerby (talk) 10:53, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi - as the person who started this, I can see your point but I think that he does have a claim to notability - as seen from even just the references to his works on other pages of wikipedia currently. He was a recognised authority on Italian organised crime and the anti-fascist movement in Italy and a translator of the works of playwright Dario Fo. It is difficult to really demonstrate this now, but I think as more tribute pages spring up on the internet to his contribution, his notability will become more apparent - I'd just ask the wikipedia owners to be patient for now if possible. - Do be aware that Wikipedia is not a memorial; there's got to be something other than links to memorials. If he's a published author, some information about his works - reviews, bestseller lists - might help with establishing more notability. If, as you say, he was a "recognised authority on Italian organised crime and the anti-fascist movement", if anything he's done in this regard has been cited in news articles, it would also help. Okay - thanks - there are plenty of reviews of his works in both academic journals and online sources, but by way of 'proof' that he was indeed a 'Mafia and Camorra expert' I have linked in an interview with him from FHM - hardly generally regarded as a pro-socialist source.
