To not merge; distinct people with similar names and a shared date of death. Klbrain (talk) 16:41, 6 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

I've recently found out that there is a duplicate article about the same person named Soe Tin Latt. I propose merging that article into this one to avoid having two articles about the same person. I am aware that Soe Tin Latt is the full name of this person which is why i guess the creator of the other article did not notice that there was a pre-existing article on the same subject already.--Voceta (talk) 17:40, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oppose: They are clearly not the same person and they held different high-level positions in the military. At first, I thought they might be the same individual, but after checking, they are not. I would like to ping @EmeraldRange for further review and opinion. Hteiktinhein (talk) 16:42, 30 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose - it's quite a coincidence but they are different people. A Burmese publication like the Irrawaddy is unlikely to invent a last name like sometimes happens with Burmese first names getting swapped around. Now I'm not sure if this Tin Soe warrants an article- it seems very BIO1E but that's a separate diacussion. EmeraldRange (talk/contribs) 18:22, 30 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
He is enough notable because of his significant actions and political influence/game, not because of his death. For example, see . Hteiktinhein (talk) 18:42, 30 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Strongly Oppose Thank you for opening a discussion about this topic with quite a few things to take into consideration, Tin Soe, a brigadier general and military officer of Myanmar, served as a military attaché for the Myanmar embassy in Tokyo Japan, a position which is absent in the Soe Tin Latt, along with that, Soe Tin Latt rose through the ranks before his death, and he only became more prominent for that event. Along with that, it shows that they are different people with different name and they're obviously not the same person or the same topic. If you check through the sources, you will see that they have a very different military background and their positions and offices. KhantWiki (talk) 00:39, 4 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
