First Tim Horton's Restaurant was in North Bay Ontario
[edit]CBC article, with actual photos of the first Tim Horton's in North Bay. "His first restaurant was not in Hamilton but in North Bay. It opened on Lakeshore Drive in the early '60's and it sold hamburgers not donuts." A few years later, he pivoted into selling doughnuts. When Tim Horton's introduced savoury food / lunch items in the 1990s, it was a "back to their roots" moment.

It is possibly correct to say that the Tim Horton's Hamilton location on Ottawa Street North, opened 1965, was the first to sell doughnuts -- I do not know if they sold doughnuts ever at the North Bay location -- but it is patently incorrect to say that it was the first Tim Horton's. - I have removed the date and location of the first store. The cited source for this does not say when or where the first store was. I'll try to add the North Bay info later. GA-RT-22 (talk) 15:28, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Canadian?
[edit]The article states that Tim Hortons is a Canadian company. And it certainly was. Is it still though? The majority owner is 3G Capital, a Brazilian company. The parent company, RBI, is mostly held by non-Canadians. See https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/is-tim-hortons-canadian-1.7485431 Gentleman wiki (talk) 23:22, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
- The article is grossly out of date, it has not been a Canadian-owned or operated company in over a decade. As such, it is completely inaccurate to call Tim Horton's a Canadian company and the article needs to be modified to reflect this (Wikipedia is a real-time encyclopedia, information needs to be accurate to the very day). Having their headquarters currently located in Toronto, or having once been a Canadian owned company, does not make them a Canadian company.
- Another glaring out of date item is the 'Controversies' section, under the 'Usage of temporary foreign workers'. It states as of May 2026, the company is seeking the hiring of local Canadian workers, but as of June 2026, it has been reported over 90 Tim Horton's locations are still exclusively seeking temporary foreign workers. This can be confirmed on the Government of Canada's Job Bank website at the time of this writing. At the same time, reports have surfaced of Canadian walking into locations and being told they are ineligible due to their citizenship, as they do not qualify under the TFW program, contradicting Tim Horton's claim. It should be indicated on the article a false claim was made by the company. I encourage an update as soon as possible.--Apple2gs (talk) 16:59, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
Of course it is. It doesn't ceased to be Canadian just because its parent company and/or owners aren't. ~2026-26572-27 (talk) 00:10, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
