I am removing the first paragraph of this article because it is inaccurate and unproven. The citation included discusses both Tie Sing AND the migration paths of Chinese-Americans during the Gold Rush, but does not at all state that he was one of those who did. The math also does not work out - if he was 16-18 during the Gold Rush migration, which was almost entirely a migration of adult men, he would have been in his 80s during the Mather Mountain Party. An NPS article says that he was born to Nevada immigrant ranchers, but I am not sure that the general circumstances of his birth or arrival in the US currently meet the criteria for Wikipedia citations right now.
