Elevation of Ticlio
[edit]In the table "Highest train stations", the elevation of Ticlio is given as 4,829 m (15,843 ft). In the article "Ticlio", the elevation is given as 4,758 m (15,610 ft). The latter is probably true, because the highest spot of the FCCA main line, inside Galera tunnel, is 4784 m high, and the stations Galera and Ticlio at the entrances of Galera tunnel are lower than this. - According to Brian Fawcett, "Railways of the Andes", first published 1963, the elevation of Ticlio is 15,608 ft; the highest railway station "La Cima" on the Morococha branch line is at 15,806 ft; Morococha itself is at 14,888 ft; and a mine siding from La Cima reaches 15,845 ft. - I suggest to make a correction in the table "Highest train stations", leaving the elevation figures as they are, and replacing "Ticlio, on the rail line Lima-Huancayo" by "La Cima, on the rail line Ticlio-Morococha". Unfortunately, the Morococha branch line, albeit still existing, is interrupted by landslides and out of use. - Riggenbach (talk) 15:51, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
