There is also a Threshold Hypothesis in psychology of creativity (about the relation between intelligence and creativity, first penned in the sixties) and probably a few more. Shouldn't there be something like "not to be confused with lots of other things" or a disambiguation page? 178.36.178.150 (talk) 18:17, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Second Major Claim Source

[edit]

The current version has a sentence that states: "It also states that, in order to gain proficiency in a second language, the learner must also have passed a certain and age appropriate level of competence in his or her first language." The source for this is not written by Cummins, who is cited as the originator of the hypothesis. Instead, it is by a different writer, and I wonder how much this statement actually aligns with what Cummins says. The quoted section almost sounds more like the Interdependence Hypothesis (also by Cummins) than the Threshold Hypothesis. I am not knowledgeable enough on the subject to feel confident making the change, but perhaps this is something to look at: Does the direct Cummins source actually make this claim?
