I am a direct descendant of Abraham Tunes, one of the 13 founders of Germantown (along with this Thones Kunders). I am reasonably certain that Kunders was from a different "Gladbach" than the one linked to. There were actually 2 Gladbachs in Germany, the one linked to (in Rheinland-Pfalz) and another in Nord Rhein-Westfalen, now called "Mönchengladbach" (the change was made, in part, to differentiate it from the one in the Rhineland). I found a source that indicates that Kunders was from Mönchengladbach. (Genealogies of Pennsylvania Families from the Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine. Volume III: Stauffer-Zerbe, Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1982. Page 508 (linked here on ancestry.com: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/48604/images/PAFamiliesIII-002634-508?usePUB=true&pId=418426). It has a reference to a will that refers to his parents being in Mönchengladbach-Damm (a village in the city of Mönchengladbach). This also makes sense given that he moved to Krefeld to be with the other Mennonite-Quakers, as Krefeld is only 13 miles from Mönchengladbach, vs. 132 miles from the other Gladbach. It was known simply as "Gladbach" until 1888 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B6nchengladbach#Name_and_origins). My ancestor Abraham (Klincken) Tunes was also from Mönchengladbach. Coincidentally, I lived in Mönchengladbach when I was a teenager, so I am well aware of the confusion between the two cities.
