Removed bit about Laird and Lord being equal titles
[edit]They are certainly not. A Laird can not call himself a Lord legally in the UK or EU. It seems people are being sold a a small segment of land in Scotland and being told that they are now Lairds or Lords and can style themselves as such. A real title requires either good parentage, good deeds or buddying up to a politician; seems £50 on the 'Net won't quite cut it. [1][2]
A Laird is someone recognised in a territorial designation by the Lord Lyon, or a feudal baron, although feudal barons are of a higher rank. Neither are styled 'Lord'. Buying a square foot of land in Scotland certainly does not make an individual a genuine Laird. 92.14.221.95 (talk) 12:53, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Unverified information and opinions added over the last year
[edit]It seems that over the last year, a handful of users have been adding their personal and entirely unverified opinions to this article. At least one of those users has now been banned from Wikipedia for being a sockpuppet account. I will be going through this article and removing any unverified statements.
