Series 7 is called Series 1

[edit]

Amazon have listed 'Series 7' separately from the previous series and called it Series 1; which is quite right in my opinion as it is effectively an entirely new show. What this means for the page though I don't know. It should probably be separated into a new page MrModius (talk) 16:36, 4 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

As Amazon labelled it under a new show as Series 1 I think it should as well have it's own page. Especially hearing the recent interviews apart from the name they are trying to show it as it's own thing. It reminds me of the 2 Top Gear pages, the original and 2002 reboot. Especially as Amazon has listed the new episodes as their own show it should have it's own page. Someone did try and do this but the decision was made to merge it with the grand tour episodes page Jay330 (talk) 10:22, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Splitting proposal - The Grand Tour (2026)

I propose that the section about the reboot be split into the page The Grand Tour (2026). The new series has been published on Amazon Prime Video under a different show tab and as 'series 1.' Given that this new series is intended as a reboot, and that the decision to merge the page The Grand Tour (2026) with this one was made before the release of the new series, I believe that splitting the page back out warrants consideration.

Support - Title the new article The Grand Tour (2026 TV series) in line with WP:TVYEAR. Production-wise, the two shows are very different, with new hosts, production crew and studios. Netflix and Hulu have similarly listed series revivals (like Johnny Test (2021 TV series) and Animaniacs (2020 TV series)) separately, with the consensus being to have separate articles for the original show and the revival. Support - The two shows are completely different shows and only share the name and logo, structured as a revival. Amazon are trying to convey it in this manner with having the show listed as 'Series 1' and production staff connected to the show (if you have listened to any interviews) have said the same. Also if you look at the credits very few people now work on both iterations of the show.

I can understand why the decision was made by Wikipedia reviewers to merge the previous iteration of The Grand Tour (2026). It was just a copy of press releases from Amazon and not a useful article. It needed to be written again, properly from the ground up. Jay330 (talk) 03:46, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

support per nom its listed as season 1 by amazon. Jabba550  | ✉ in solidarity 14:02, 21 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Support – I think they need to be two separate articles. The Grand Tour (2016 TV series) and The Grand Tour (2026 TV series). The fact they're separately listed on Amazon and they've reset the season numbering makes this make sense. This will just allow the distinction especially as the series continues and the page continues to grow. TheMysteriousEditor (talk) 08:37, 19 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Support – per previous comments. The previous 2026 series article needed a lot of work, so I understand why it was merged. But I am sure we can draft a replacement once we reach consensus. Cheezknight (talk) 10:05, 19 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
