Italic title in refs?

[edit]

@Michael Bednarek I see that you've italicised the title in all references in your recent edit. I don't think this is necessary or appropriate: we don't impose Wikipedia's formatting in titles of refs (except to tone down SHOUTing). I've looked at 3 random FAs for films Casablanca (film) etc, and none italicise the film title in the refs. Is there a policy or guideline you're following here? If not, please revert those italics. Thanks. PamD 13:33, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

WP:CITESTYLE recommends that our WP:MOS should be consistently applied, so I think it is appropriate. This compliance should not be confined to correcting all-caps and minor spelling errors. Before my edit, some instances of the title were already in italics, others used single quotes or were unadorned. Applying italics consistently was not a radical change. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:19, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
