Lisp machines

[edit]

I used many of the Lisp Machines, starting with the Symbolics.

I was at the Sperry Univac Knowledge Systems Center where we worked with TI to package the LMI variant on a card and to configure this into a workstation.

Later, TI coupled the LMI with the Apple Machintosh.

Frankly, Lisp cannot be beat for its facility to work with a human in building bespoke software. Yes, numeric modes have taken over the world and screwed things up. We need to step back to something more qualitative in form off a balance.

Oh, Wikipedia. The TI Explorer as an important piece of history of the evolution of computing which went into devolution once DoW pushed numerics on us. jmswtlk (talk) 11:36, 8 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
