Its a bit dramatic here! its not like it always bursts into flames!

Somebody help me out here - I added a link to tert-Butyllithium on the n-Butyllithium page, but it does not recognize this page. What's the deal? Does capitalization matter? ChemistHans 23:18, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, links are case sensetive. Cheers, JetLover (talk) 23:18, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Shouldn't the title of this page be Tert-butyllithium? --Vuo 09:00, 19 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
tert is a latin and so shouldn't be capitalised (in written text it should be italicised like n-, sec-, iso etc), but might be worth putting a re-direct from that page Seansheep (talk) 19:04, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
my bad, according to IUPAC iso shouldn't be italicised Seansheep (talk) 19:08, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Available as solutions of ethers?

[edit]

I've edited this before, then reverted because I wasn't sure; the end of the article says "This compound and other alkyllithium compounds are known to be unstable in ether solvents", but the intro reads "tert-Butyllithium is readily available commercially as solutions of ethers or hydrocarbons". Someone more knowledgeable who can confirm or deny? DS Belgium (talk) 15:37, 31 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Checked a few suppliers and they have them in alkane solvent only. I'll take it out. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 17:31, 31 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Systematic name

[edit]

I believe the systematic name of this compound is (1,1-dimethylethyl)lithium, but I'm no chemist so I'll leave this here rather than edit it into the article.
