Peacock terms
[edit]The opening clause of the present article, "TechnoFeminism is an influential book by prominent academic sociologist Professor Judy Wajcman," is no doubt true, but needs editing to Wikipedia's house style. "influential" and "prominent" are peacock terms that we try to avoid in encyclopedia style, and we aren't supposed to use academic titles in body text (although mentioning that the author has a professorial post is of course on topic). Neutrality/Bias
[edit]Is the article neutral? Are there any claims that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?
Although the article could easily exhibit biased language due to its topic, the author is careful to avoid expressing a certain viewpoint. The introductory paragraph identifies the content of the book in a neutral way: "The book reframes the relationship between gender and technologies, and presents a feminist reading of the woman-machine relationship". Even the following sentence, which identifies the book as a key contribution to feminist technoscience, does not contain language that is indicative of the author's personal feelings. This neutrality was brought in by the previous editor, who carefully removed peacock terms from the original edition.
The reception could be perceived as biased initially, but upon closer inspection, one can see that it is simply relaying reviews, not detailing the author's opinion. JamieBagman (talk) 19:28, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
