Keoni Everington (2020-06-15). "Wikipedia finally designates Taiwan as 'country'". Taiwan News. Retrieved 2020-06-16. In a request for comments (RFC) page created to debate the proper status of Taiwan in its Wikipedia entry, editors in May fiercely debated the merits of referring to Taiwan as a "state" or a "country."
Zach Weissmueller (23 February 2026). "Can You Trust Wikipedia?". Reason. Retrieved 23 February 2026. The Taiwan page is under constant siege, and a vote had to be taken on whether to call it a country before locking that part of the page. Wikimedia Foundation banned seven members of the Chinese Mainland Wikipedia group in 2021, with a V.P. announcing that "community 'capture' is a real and present threat."
Should the role and influence of Sun Yat-sen be introduced in the History section?

For GDP, the infobox uses only the dollar sign $ and means US$. I find this a bit ambiguous, as the local currency is also dollar $, more specifically the New Taiwan Dollar NT$. So I would suggest to use the abbreviation US$ instead to avoid this ambiguity. ~2026-43571-36 (talk) 02:11, 8 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

To refer Taiwan as a "de-facto country" or a "de-facto state" because of its lack of legal recognition (notably from the UN), making it clearer that its status is disputed.
Change "Taiwan,[I][k] officially the Republic of China (ROC),[II] is a country[29] in East Asia." to "Taiwan,[I][k] officially the Republic of China (ROC),[II] is a de-facto country[29] in East Asia."

I have a request about deleting the sources after the word "is a country". Because Palestine, another partially recognized country, does not have sources after the word "country". Thus I request about the deletion of the sources. ~2026-46609-81 (talk) 21:11, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not done because you have not explained how the sources given for "(Taiwan) is a country" are supposed to be invalid or unreliable simply because another article lacks such sources given. Mr Fink (talk) 21:19, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
