Removed dual stubs

I saw that this article had two stub notifications, one for politics, one for Lebanon. Since this article was in the Lebanon-Stubs category I deleted the Politics one, so that there is only the Lebanon one.

Hezbollah and the Taif Agreement

On this site alone I have read conflicting reports about Hezbollah's stance on the Taif Agreement. Did they want Syria out of the country or not? Hezbollah is connected to Syria so Nasrallah's quote in the article is baffling. Can someone please explain this to me? --Nightengale989 17:02, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

The actual quote in the article cited is

In an attempt to undercut demands for full withdrawal of its forces, Damascus announced February 24 a “redeployment” of its soldiers in Lebanon to the Bekaa Valley along Lebanon’s eastern border with Syria. “The important withdrawals that have been carried out so far and will be carried out later will be done in agreement with Lebanon against the backdrop of the Taif Agreement and the mechanisms it entails,” said Syrian deputy foreign minister Waleed Al-Mualem, according to Islam Online.

What Security Council (or for that matter General Assembly) resolutions permitted Hezbollah to retain its weapons between the Israeli withdrawal and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1559? Or should we consult Protocol II to the Geneva Conventions? Does Resolution 1559 create an exception to Protocol II? Amyzex (talk) 21:51, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
