Inclusion of Matwali chhetris

[edit]

There should be mentioning of Matwali Kshetris along with Tagadhari Kshetris as identity of Matwalis kshetris is unclear to many. These Matwali Kshetris form a huge part of mid western and far Westen nepalese population but don't find mention anywhere. Ethnically they were Khas like other khas kshetris but they didn't stick to traditional vedic Hinduism and thus were denied Janai (sacred thread), they continued eating Pork, Chicken and drinking Alcohol which was forbidden for Tagadhari kshetris . They share similar surnames with Tagadhari Kshetris but tagadharis don't marry them. Now a days Matwalis too hire a Brahman and get upanayan ceremony done traditionally they didn't. Although the process of conversation from Matwali to Tagadhari is still going on, some still prefer to avoid marriage with matwalis, especially around village areas.
