Etymology

The name clearly has nothing to do with “choeros”, one of the words for “hog”. I think it’s from a variant of “hus” or “hys” (as in “hyena”) with an initial sigma, but I don’t have the resources handy to check. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.96.218.37 (talk) 02:37, 6 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
