Section review: Removed links that were either book advertising, showing absolutely nothing "unique", or dead links.
  • ELpoints #3): Links in the "External links" section should be kept to a minimum. A lack of external links or a small number of external links is not a reason to add external links.
  • LINKFARM: There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to the external links section of an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. On articles about topics with many fansites, for example, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate.
  • ELMIN: Minimize the number of links. --

Roman Numerals

[edit]

Can I add numbers next to roman numerals to help people who do not know Roman numerals understand them? It would be like Super Bowl LIV (54) turtlem :D 02:01, 5 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Well can I? turtlem :D 12:37, 5 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

"two best teams from each conference"

[edit]

4 teams? Should that be "2 best teams, one from each conference"? ~2025-36388-15 (talk) 22:32, 8 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Viewership Placement

[edit]

"Its viewership is bested by the UEFA Champions League final, FIFA World Cup, Tour de France, Cricket World Cup, FIFA Women's World Cup, Summer Olympic Games, and the Winter Olympic games as the most watched sporting event worldwide..." - The list doesn’t really fit. The Super Bowl takes place on a single day, whereas apart from the Champions League final, the others span several days. In that case, you could also compare the MLB season, with 70 million, to the Super Bowl. However, if you were to compare only the finals of the tournaments, the Cricket World Cup (300 million) and the (Soccer) World Cup (1,400 million) would still rank higher than the Super Bowl. sугсго . So, what exactly are you suggesting? - Adolphus79 (talk) 12:29, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
The source does not support that sentence anyway, so it should be removed.
The source only supports that the UEFA Champions League final is more watched; it says nothing about those other sporting events. So, it could be altered to just state that the Champions League is more-watched, but the source isn't very good anyway so I would propose just removing that sentence entirely until better information is found. It's unsupported as currently written.
But yeah, that sentence stood out as very bizarre to me too, that's why I stopped and checked... Because it's comparing the entirety of sporting seasons/tournaments to a singular event... doesn't seem like they are analogous, so I thought to myself "Did a source really make this comparison?" and checked and sure enough, they did not.
I betcha the UEFA Champions League Final page does not say, "The NFL is more watched than the UEFA Champions League Final" which would also be a true statement... but a very strange and not very relevant one. Sporting events should be compared final vs. final, or in entirety vs. in entirety, which is how sources typically do it because that is the logical comparison. You would not compare, say, "The GDP of the United States of America is bigger than the GDP of Liverpool." Even if true, it's a strange point to make, and unless you had some specific reason for doing so, you would be more apt to compare the GDP of the United States to the GDP of the United Kingdom — not comparing one part of a whole against another whole. Bizarre.
That sentence should be removed. It's not supported. ~2026-48965-05 (talk) 03:43, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
