The stated area figures are not consistent: 55 million square feet is 1262acres and 5,100,000 m2 is 5.1km2  Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.88.26.213 (talk) 16:58, 8 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Square footage discrepancy

[edit]

The article lists that SubTropolis is a "55,000,000-square-foot (5,100,000 m2), 1,260-acre (5.1 km2) limestone mine", and has for some time but fails to cite any WP:RS to support this figure (although it is a common figure listed by non-RS). It is not clear where this figure started. Various sources list different sizes, including a 2010 Atlantic article stating it is "covering about 25 million square feet", while Hunt Midwest's official site currently lists the facility as being a "14M square foot facility with 10M square feet developed". I will add a CN tag for now, but a consensus likely needs to be reached on a size supported by RS, or perhaps the square footage should just be removed altogether. Updated it to Hunt Midwest's current 14 million sq.ft. per official website stating: "SubTropolis is a 14M square foot facility with 10M square feet developed since 1964." Wikipedialuva (talk) 06:48, 15 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
