Is the "external link" intended to be a reference for the quote? And is the quote intentionally commented out? I can't read the external link as I'm not a subscriber. General Government

The use of the term "General Government" in the quote from John Quincy Adams II was not an error and should not be followed by [sic]. It was used then to refer to the Federal government. See Dictionary of the United States Congress, and the General Government (1868) for an example of the use of the term in that era. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:41, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
