I could be wrong, but I believe the quote about the Polo Grounds was said by John Mara not Steve. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mets (talkcontribs) 15:37, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Epstein email entry

[edit]

Need to check the wording of the 1/30/26 paragraph that describes the release of the Epstein emails, which cites a NY Times/Athletic article that is behind a paywall. The sentence is constructed in a way that could be defamatory if incorrectly worded, and the wording of that sentence should be reviewed against the source article's content to ensure correctness and non-defamatory as worded. Well , to begin with, the term "sex trafficking" is used nowhere in the source article in relation to Steve Tisch. Human trafficking is a serious crime, and seeking the services of a sex worker or sugar baby is not automatically synonymous with sex trafficking. Unless that can be sourced, that language needs to be out of this BLP right away. And, yes, this is in connection with Jeffrey Epstein, a very sketchy character (to put it mildly), but it's also worth noting that he has never been convicted of human trafficking activities following his 2011 release. There is also the use of the word "girls" -- again, NYT/Athletic citation is behind a paywall, but other news outlets have used the word "women" in the context of Tisch emails with regard to his seeking female contacts/company with Epstein assistance ... OK NM my most recent post above, I see article was amended to adhere to above suggestions for avoiding any defamatory content citing the NYT/Athletic article. Casoulman (talk) 16:06, 31 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
