COI edit request: substantial update and sourcing improvements

I have a professional and financial relationship with Steph Fraser and am therefore declaring a conflict of interest. I have also disclosed this relationship on my user page. I have not made the substantive changes below directly to the article and would be grateful if an uninvolved editor could review them.

The article is substantially out of date and is presently tagged for updating, inadequate sourcing as a biography of a living person, unclear notability and promotional tone.

I have prepared a proposed revision intended to address those issues rather than simply add new material. In particular, I have tried to remove or omit poorly sourced legacy claims, use independent secondary sources where available, distinguish clearly between independent and primary sources, and avoid promotional wording.

Requested change 1: lead, infobox and BLP cleanup

I suggest replacing the current lead with a concise summary reflecting Fraser's career beyond 2009.

I also suggest:

• removing the unsupported 1992 birth-year category unless a sufficiently reliable source can be identified;
• retaining Blackpool as the birthplace, provided the reviewing editor considers the existing sourcing sufficient;
• removing or reconsidering the unsourced "folk rock" genre if a reliable source cannot be identified;
• updating the outdated website field in the infobox to match the current official website already listed in External links; and
• removing unsupported or obsolete infobox information where appropriate.

Requested change 2: early career and Island Records

The existing career section contains a number of detailed claims for which the cited sources do not appear to provide adequate verification.

For example, the archived Blackpool Gazette source does verify that Fraser had won the newspaper's Young Talent competition, subsequently released "Purple Sun" through an independent label and toured Canada. It does not appear to support all of the additional claims presently attached to that citation concerning the Blackpool Illuminations performance, audience size and other performers.

I therefore suggest substantially shortening this period to retain the independently verifiable material.

There is considerably stronger sourcing for the later Island Records period. FATEA published a substantive independent review of Fraser's four-track Walking Woman EP, identifying Island as the label and discussing her songwriting and vocal performance in detail. Music Week also contemporaneously listed Walking Woman as an Island release in November 2013.

Requested change 3: 2025–2026 activity

There are now several independent published sources covering Fraser's recent work.

Northern Exposure gave substantive coverage to Fraser's opening set for Declan O'Rourke at Union Chapel in November 2025, discussing several songs and her performance.

In February 2026, RTL Today reported Jack Savoretti's account of meeting Fraser backstage and subsequently writing with her.

Fraser co-wrote "Only Gonna Cry For You" with Savoretti, Jonny Wright and Shannon Harris and appears on the recording. The track was included on Savoretti's 2026 album We Will Always Be The Way We Were. Rolling Stone Germany specifically discussed the Fraser duet in its review of the album.

The Official Charts Company records the album as reaching number two on the UK Official Albums Chart. The proposed wording below is intended to make clear that this chart position belongs to Savoretti's album and is not a chart position attributed separately to Fraser.

Northern Exposure also independently covered Fraser joining Savoretti to perform "Only Gonna Cry For You" at the Royal Albert Hall on 27 May 2026.

Requested change 4: discography

I suggest replacing the detailed track-by-track legacy discography with a concise list of independently verifiable releases.

I have omitted Recession Proof from the proposed list for the moment because sources I found were inconsistent about its release year. It can be restored if an appropriate reliable source resolves this.

I have also not included Fraser's forthcoming album or future tour activity because I have not identified sufficiently strong independent sourcing for those details at present.

Requested change 5: photograph and caption

I would also like to propose replacing the existing photograph with a more recent image.

I took the proposed photograph myself and have uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons under a free licence:

I suggest using the image in the infobox with the caption:

"Fraser in 2026"

The current caption reads "Fraser in Catherine North Studios, Ontario, Canada, during recording of her debut album in 2008". The location and year are correct, but the description of the recording as her "debut album" is factually incorrect.

I would therefore appreciate the reviewing editor replacing the existing image and caption with the proposed 2026 photograph and the caption:

Stephanie Fraser, known professionally as Steph Fraser, is an English singer-songwriter. She released music independently before signing to Island Records, which released her EP Walking Woman in 2013.

In 2025, Fraser released "Only Gonna Cry For You" with Jack Savoretti, which she co-wrote with Savoretti, Jonny Wright and Shannon Harris. The song was subsequently included on Savoretti's 2026 album We Will Always Be The Way We Were, which reached number two on the UK Albums Chart.

Fraser attended Rossall School in Lancashire and later studied at Leeds College of Music. After signing to Island Records, she moved to London.

2025–present

In 2025, Savoretti and Fraser released "Only Gonna Cry For You". Fraser is credited as a songwriter alongside Savoretti, Jonny Wright and Shannon Harris. Savoretti later said that the collaboration developed after he met Fraser backstage at a solo concert, with the pair writing together several weeks later.

The song was included on Savoretti's album We Will Always Be The Way We Were, released in April 2026. Rolling Stone Germany highlighted the Fraser duet in its review of the album. The album reached number two on the UK Official Albums Chart.

On 27 May 2026, Fraser joined Savoretti to perform "Only Gonna Cry For You" at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Fraser released the single "Cold Hard Facts" through Sweet Bird Recordings in June 2026.
