In 4 William Blackstone, Commentaries *193, the following is stated: "This statute was made on account of the frequent quarrels and stabbings with short daggers, between the Scotch and the English, at the accession of James the first ; and, being therefore of a temporary nature, ought to have expired with the mischief, which it was meant to remedy." Blackstone also makes some comments on the enforcement of the law and the peculiarities of it. There's also a reference to "1 Lord Raym. 140" that I can't figure out. I guess it's referring to Robert Raymond, 1st Baron Raymond, but I don't know what writing this would be. —/Mendaliv/^2¢/_Δ's/ 10:42, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

The reference is probably to page 140 of volume 1 of Lord Raymond's Reports. These reports are reprinted in the English Reports. James500 (talk) 11:51, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
