Status quo post of this page
[edit]I turned it into a disambig page. If there's a question about what it should be redirected to, a disambig page is the way to go.
Another option would be to restore this version of the article - I don't see any good reason that it was done away with other than the lack of source material / notability of the phrase outside the context of war. BigDT 15:59, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I favour the latter option. HistoryBA 01:59, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Redirect to status quo ante bellum?
[edit]Every link I've seen refers to status quo ante bellum. Perhaps we can turn this into a redirect for that and instead put a hatnote at the top of status quo ante bellum, eg "You may also be looking for reset button technique". Serasuna (talk) 23:35, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Status quo ante → Status Quo Ante – The Latin phrase is undoubtedly the primary topic by both long-term significance and usage. Redirect Status quo ante to List of Latin phrases (S)#status quo ante, which is the target of Status quo ante (phrase). Alternatively, Status quo could be a suitable target for both redirects. WP:DIFFCAPS supports creating a separate page for the proper names. For transparency, I added the synagogues to this dab page before making this nomination (diff). Previously, only Status quo ante (phrase) and Status Quo Ante (Hungary) were listed one on the dab page with Status Quo Ante Synagogue listed under § See also. —Myceteae🍄🟫 (talk) 15:49, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- Additional info: Pageviews shows that Status quo ante, the redirect Status quo ante (phrase), and Status Quo Ante Synagogue (Târgu Mureș) get roughly equal amounts of monthly traffic. Rumbach Street Synagogue (aka Status Quo Ante Synagogue) leads overall and the other synagogues get about half as much traffic as this page. WikiNav shows that 100% of readers in April and 84% of readers in March navigated from this page to List of Latin phrases (S). —Myceteae🍄🟫 (talk) 16:05, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- Leaning support, with comment: Status Quo Ante (Hungary) is a bit strange. It violates WP:ISATERMFOR, and it's not clear that it should use a title case title. It's sort of a disambiguation page or a broad-concept description or a dictionary definition. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:26, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, that article should likely be merged into Schism in Hungarian Jewry. 162 etc. (talk) 16:43, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- I have no objection to moving, merging, and/or redirecting (in whatever combination) Status Quo Ante (Hungary). That could be considered in a separate nomination after this closes. I don't think it is critical to the determination here. The Status Quo Ante dab page could be updated later to reflect the proper casing and disambiguation for Status Quo Ante (Hungary) whether it ends up as a standalone page or a redirect somewhere. What's left on the dab page are three proper names of individual synagogues and the Latin phrase, which may or may not be kept on the dab page, so we'd be left with at least 3/5 or 3/4 capitalized entries on the dab page. —Myceteae🍄🟫 (talk) 17:12, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
