I think it provides low resistance discharge path as the static discharges are supposed to facilate the release of accumlated charges on the aircraft body.

There is a redirect from "Lightning Discharge Wick" to this page. But this page specifically states that the Static Discharge Wick is not a lightning discharger.

So why the redirect?
