Rename article (Stadler Smile)

[edit]

Hello, I'd like to raise the topic of renaming this article to better reflect its contents as those of a railway vehicle type. Currently, the article is named SBB RABe 501, after SBB's technical classification of this type of train, and the article itself covers the Stadler Smile, a model of which SBB is the primary customer and current only operator. However, this model has been on order by SAR for over a year, and on order by Westbahn for about just under a year. It has also been speculated that the Westbahn units have already been manufactured[a] so soon SBB might stop being the sole operator. As such, I think the article be renamed after the model in order to better accommodate for these uses. Personally, I suggest "Stadler Smile" on top of the existing redirect[b] however this would be out of line with Stadler models on Enwiki generally being all-caps, so the all-caps version is more likely unless it is deemed the others need to be renamed as well.

Notes

  1. https://railcolornews.com/2025/11/17/is-this-the-first-stadler-smile-for-westbahn/
  2. With an acknowledgement that SBB is the primary user and that "Giruno" is the primary nickname/username...

I do agree ! With the export, that would be a good thing to do. Fabrice Ram (talk) 10:25, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
