- Over two years on and this article is still a stub! I'm hoping to pay the article some attention in the next few days. I would very much appreciate any help with the editing. Yozzer66 (talk) 23:03, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
For some reason someone is altering the names of band members, Jim Solar was James Little, not James Liffle (so on). Not sure why they would do this, either they think they're funny, or the band members want their identities hidden so as not to be associated with Spizz. Either way, I have corrected them here, and any further messing around with the names will be reported, since quite possible its libelous. Spizzenergi
[edit]The band was called Spizzenergi NOT Spizz Energi. And the band was called Spizz Oil before that and NOT The Spizzoils. The history should be Spizz 77 (1977), Spizz Oil (1978), Spizzenergi (1979), Athletico Spizz 80 (1980), The Spizzles (1981-1982), Spizzenergi 2 (1982-1983), Spizzorwell (1983), Spizz performed as "The Last Big Future Show" in 1984, Spizz's Big Business (1985-1986), Spizzsexual (1986-1987), Spizzorbit (1988-1989), Spizzivision (1989-1990), the band then performed occasionly as Spizz Oil again in 1990-1993 with just Pete Petrol and Spizz in the band. In 1993 Spizz started using the name Spizzenergi again for his band, except for a xmas single released in 1994 under the name Spizzmas.
Gang of Four were pretty well established by 1979 when I saw them - to lump them with the Smiths that late on isn't really accurate at all, and conflates far too much...217.146.113.81 (talk) 20:23, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Spizz 77 is Spizz solo, "Spizzoil" is a duo (Spizz & Pete Petrol), the *band* this article should be about started with 'Spizzenergi' (1979), continued as 'Athletico Spizz 80' and 'The Spizzles' and ended with 'Spizzenergi 2' (-1983) - E-Kartoffel (talk) 18:35, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Please remove what appears to be an entirely spurious alias "Spizz loves Jizz" from the infobox, added by an IP last year. Morwen (talk) 19:14, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

"The band supported Siouxsie and the Banshees, among others, and later toured as a headline act in many European countries."
Please replace this with

remove malformatted track listing

In the Spizzenergi#Discography section please remove the catalogue numbers and malformatted track listings of the albums. Morwen (talk) 13:35, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Morwen. Are Catalogue numbers prohibited? Also, it's not usual to have track listings at all in Discography sections, so they should all go? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:30, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi. I don't know if catalogue numbers are prohibited but they're certainly unusual and they would make some already busy lines busier. I didn't see any other track listings? Oh do you mean, the b-sides table. Oh, and and there's catalogue numbers there? Sorry I just meant the specific things in 'Albums'. The table also needs a bit of work but the main thing I'd do there is split out the band name / release date column into two columns. Morwen (talk) 14:50, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Oh ok, a bit more complicated than I thought, then. I can have a first go at deleting the Cat numbers? Martinevans123 (talk) 14:54, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- I mean, you can do what you like, but the specific I meant to suggest was the first edit you did removing the malformatted catalogue numbers from the albums subsection, and then removing the lines that are formatted like this.

- OK. In the absence of any dedicated articles for the albums, should we format the track lists properly, or just remove them? Martinevans123 (talk) 15:55, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- I'd just remove them. I did a spot check of a bunch of random articles in Category:English_punk_rock_groups and none of the ones I saw appear to represent track listings in the discography like this. Morwen (talk) 16:01, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Ok. No, it's not standard practice for bands of any genre, as far as I know. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:03, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

guinness book of records claim
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. Set |answered=no to reactivate the request if necessary. |
"Spizz was noted for his annual name change policy, which ceased when the Guinness Book of Records failed to recognise his claim that he had recorded and released the greatest number of recordings under different names (though the book's deputy editor, Shelagh Thomas, nevertheless confessed to owning "Where's Captain Kirk?").[citation needed]"
please change this as follows
"Spizz changed his band's name every year. Spizz reports that he attempted to be recognised by the Guiness Book of Records as the act to have released records under the most names, but was told that this would be "too specialised."
then use as reference , which was introduced in an earlier edit request.

sources for Where's Captain Kirk paragraph
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. Set |answered=no to reactivate the request if necessary. |
"Their lineup in late 1979 consisted of Spizz on vocals and guitar, Mark Coalfield on keyboard and vocals, Dave Scott on guitar, Jim Solar (real name James Little) on bass guitar and Hero Shima (real name Suresh Singh) on drums."
With deletion of the "real names" this sentence can be backed by and . (The second one is necessary to provide a first name for Dave Scott).
BBC Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel described "Where's Captain Kirk?" as "the best Star Trek associated song"."
Please change this sentence to
BBC Radio 1 disc jockey [[John Peel]] would later describe "Where's Captain Kirk?" as the "the only Star Trek tribute worth of the Enterprise's jukebox".<ref>{{cite AV media|title=Funk Me Up, Scotty|date=1996-08-26|type=Broadcast|publisher=BBC}}</ref>

paragraph about daughter
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. Set |answered=no to reactivate the request if necessary. |
The paragraph is overlong, badly sourced, and contains excessive detail, including stuff about a band that the subject's daughter's former bandmate later formed. This might take several goes, but here's a new version. Note that one of the links I've changed to use archive-url.
The birth of a daughter, Molly Spiers-MacLeod, in 1991, consumed the bulk of his energy as he stayed home to care for her.[2] Spiers-MacLeod has played in various bands including Poussez Posse, [3] the Featherz,[4] I, Doris, [5] and the Untitled Band Project.[6] She also provided vocals for Wild Mutation, a glam-era covers band that Spizz himself fronted.[7]

paragraph about singles with Tony Visconti
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. Set |answered=no to reactivate the request if necessary. |
Please amend this paragraph as follows
In 2020 a new single, "Christmas in Denmark Street", mixed by Tony Visconti, reached number 7 in the Official Vinyl Singles Chart.[1][2] This was followed in 2021 by a faithful cover version of David Bowie's "Valentine's Day", again mixed by Visconti, which reached number 3 in the vinyl chart. marquee club and urgh! a music war
[edit]| An impartial editor has reviewed the proposed edit(s) and asked the editor with a conflict of interest to go ahead and make the suggested changes. |
The Electric Sound piece can (ref name="electronic") provide backing for the claim about the sold-out run at the Marquee Club, although we will have to remove the paranthetical about the sixth (matinee) show.
The claim about "Urgh! A Music War" can partly be sourced to , which I found over at the page Urgh! A Music War. That it was that song in particular can be observed in the film itself, so I'd suggest using <ref>{{cite film|title=Urgh! A Music War|time=34:30{{ndash}}36:30|people=Burbridge, Derek (director)|date=1982}}</ref>. I would suggest deleting the next sentence, about American cable television.

[edit]- An impartial editor has reviewed the proposed edit(s) and asks the COI editor to go ahead and make the suggested changes.
I would add that I don't see a {{connected contributor}} template with Morwen's name attached to it (or anything on their user and talk pages), so I don't know why this is a COI edit request.
Regards, Spintendo 03:43, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks. My reading of WP:COI disclosure advice is that it says to make editors aware when I’m discussing a potential COI topic, with that template merely being one way to do that, and it seems to me that making edit requests using this mechanism constitutes disclosure itself. Morwen (talk) 03:57, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- There are 3 ways to WP:DISCLOSE; Using {{Edit COI}} by itself is not one of them. Regards, Spintendo 04:46, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
