There aren't enough different keys on the keyboard to type the correct symbol in shorthand. "GET SOME" 02:53, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The original version of Speedwriting used symbols from the typewriter keyboard. As the years passed and the system was updated, the symbols were replaced with other symbols or letters. ShorthandMarc —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.68.15.177 (talk) 17:22, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

illustration

[edit]

The illustration in this article is not correct. In the Sheff version of Speedwriting, the m and w would be written as wide curves and "lazy" would be written with a comma at the end instead of an e. The illustration is not correct for the Dearborn or Pullis version either. Rikat (talk) 16:31, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Legacy

[edit]

Speedwriting became popular because it was easier to learn than many traditional shorthand systems. Its use of alphabet letters made it accessible to students, typists, and office workers. Although shorthand is less common today, Speedwriting remains an important example of 20th-century shorthand education and business communication. MarleneSaab (talk) 22:37, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
