Multi merger proposal

I propose to merge the following pages: Soviet Civil Administration, Provisional People's Committee of North Korea and People's Committee of North Korea into one single larger article — the Soviet occupation zone of Korea. Because they are three small pages, merging them into one will save some space like the Soviet occupation zone in Germany and the United States Army Military Government in Korea. 142.112.236.176 (talk) 15:31, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

• Support merging Provisional People's Committee of North Korea and People's Committee of North Korea; oppose merging Soviet Civil Administration, which was an entirely different beast. Soviet Civil Administration → Soviet occupation zone of Korea – All three pages are small so renaming this page after merging all the three can be larger to avoid stubs. The name I am proposing to move also exists in the Russian Wikipedia. 142.112.236.176 (talk) 15:41, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Even if there is a merge, the proposed title including "zone" seems like a slightly different topic (cf. RfC: Infobox country

I have restored the infobox to its original shape because that template is used like all other countries under military occupation. I may recommend if we can have a discussion.

Soviet Civil Administration was not an executive government, it was both a military occupation and civillian administration overlapping eachother, what fits best with the infobox is still infobox country because SCA itself constitutes a polity, and within this polity exist North Korean provisional governments as well, similar to USAMGIK in South Korea. Executive government does not work here, I already edited both provisional people's committe and people's committee article though (here's where the infobox executive government suits), but SCA specifically was a polity and not "a government", just like USAMGIK, it was called "government" but in practice it was a military occupation and therefore a belligerent controlled territory, with some degree of civillian administration.

What's described in this article at the moment is closer to a government or administration than a territory or polity. Is there an alternative template (other than executive government or country) that might be suitable? Nikkimaria (talk) 04:32, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Well the article also described it as an occupational regime, therefore an occupied territory and not institution. At this moment I don't know if there are any other infoboxes that can be used besides former country, but maybe we can reword the article based on existing contemporary sources.
