Sorex actually means "shrew", not "mouse" (certainly in biological neo-Latin, probably also in classical Latin; see, e.g., , ). Mus is the canonical word for "mouse" in biological Latin. Ucucha (talk) 02:56, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, my classical Latin dictionary also defines "sōrex" as "shrew" and "mūs" as "mouse or rat", so I think this is a misconception. Anaxial (talk) 05:38, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
