Snipe hunting

Should a reference to the cultural use of 'snipe hunt' as an impossible task be included? I agree that something should be added about what a 'snipe hunt' means in culture, but I don't feel qualified to explain it to myself. To me a snipe hunt was a prank you played on new people at a summer camp or something. You would make them all take pillow cases and say you were going to try to catch snipes in your pillow cases. Then you would lead them wandering around in the forest for a while at night and some of you would sneak off and try to scare them, or ditch them etc. I'm sure there are tons of variations on this but none of it is included in this article. In fact, up until I read this article, I didn't even know that a snipe was an actual creature. I always thought it was just made up for the purpose of the prank.Nathan Wonnacott (talk) 16:23, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

What makes them hard to shoot?

Snipe require a Gundog (German Wirehaired Pointer,Springer Spaniel,Spinoni Italiano) To scent them and point them, They then spoof the snipe up into the air, If you do manage to hit them they are ridiculously hard to find in the scrub without the dog. This is what makes snipe hunting so hard. Dojojoe.

Also they sit tight, and flush at the last moment with a fast zigzag flight. The combination of surprise appearance and tricky flight makes them hard to shoot Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:24, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
