Use this source to add a personal life section. TheGreatEditor024 (talk) 04:22, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Keep the article but since it is from llm so deletion should be temporary not permanent bit I suggest keep ~2026-52640-55 (talk) 13:14, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
wdym, temporary deletion, I think you meant to convert it to a draft. TheGreatEditor024 (talk) 13:18, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Imo this should get merged/put under the main incident’s article as like a subsection kinda thing about the pilots rather than its own separate article/page ~2026-52702-08 (talk) 17:40, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well, may pilots and passengers have their own article such as Sully Sullenberger, Jeffrey Skiles, John Ogonowski, Al Haynes, Todd Beamer, Tom Burnett, Mark Bingham, Jeremy Glick, etc. And he does meet WP:SIGCOV. TheGreatEditor024 (talk) 20:11, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree. I think there isn't enough relevant information about him outside the event he is known for to warrant a page of his own yet. The incident is too recent. Instead, this page could be converted into a section in Flydubai Flight 1073. (๑´ㅂ๑) Pizza104 <(Let's talk!) 00:19, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I second this - basically a victim of terrorism; but why is his aspirations to be a pilot relevant info for anybody?? definitely a compressed set of relevant info and add to the larger page Greenhill22 (talk) 00:37, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
We can add some of it in the Early life section. TheGreatEditor024 (talk) 05:23, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. This has since been incorporated into the article and helped to expand the page. Princessa Unicorn (talk) 20:13, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Removal of large amount of info

[edit]

Disagree with this edit . Removal of large amount of info. Let's discuss here before removing again, please. Princessa Unicorn (talk) 01:05, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the note, and sorry about the overlap. Your Modi addition was lost in an edit conflict and I restored it right away. I won't redo the condensing; I've opened a proposal at #Condensing the Flydubai Flight 1073 section so we can go through it piece by piece. Akolamaverick (talk) 01:15, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much. Princessa Unicorn (talk) 01:25, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Condensing the Flydubai Flight 1073 section

[edit]

Several AfD participants argued for redirecting because this article largely duplicates Flydubai Flight 1073, and some flagged LLM-style text. I'd like to propose condensing the incident section to a short summary with a {{Main}} link, and moving details like transponder codes, passenger rebooking, the GoFundMe totals and celebrity reactions to the flight article or removing them. The aim is to make the article read as a biography, which is the strongest answer to the WP:BLP1E argument.

My earlier attempt at this (Special:Diff/1377933031) was reverted, which is fine. @Princessa Unicorn, which parts do you think are essential to keep here? Akolamaverick (talk) 01:12, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

If we look at articles like Captain Sully, we can see the material can be discussed in depth at both places. I would certainly say keep until the deletion discussion has ran its full conclusion first, please. Thanks so much, Princessa Unicorn (talk) 01:25, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Understood, and I'm happy to hold off. One thought, since it seems we both want this to survive: most of the redirect/delete votes cite BLP1E and LLM-style text, and several want deletion before any redirect. If the closer reads it that way, all of this content could be lost. Would you consider supporting draftify as a fallback in the AfD? That keeps every word, gives us time to tighten it into a biography, and lets us resubmit once there's coverage beyond the flight (an award, interviews after his recovery). In the meantime, OK if I fix typos and citation titles only, without removing content? Akolamaverick (talk) 01:32, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Another good example to look to is Ahmed Al-Ahmed. AgentBlueberryPie (talk) 01:33, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'd very much like to keep the content yes. Hopefully it won't come to deletion forever. Princessa Unicorn (talk) 01:44, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! that's very useful model for structuring this. Looks like his article rests on coverage that continued well after the event (recognition, follow-ups). I looked through its history and seems that a standalone draft was only started in Sept 2026, once there was follow-up coverage through the year;
but in the beginning it was only in the Bondi shooting page (Dec 2025) that he was covered, with his name as a redirect, for about eight-nine months. Akolamaverick (talk) 01:51, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is certainly potentially one of several different models we could look at for guidance. However, one would hope to not lose all this good sourced material and content and even this page and this article in the meantime and in the interim for the time being at the present point in time.
