Why re-creating the article

I know this article has been deleted before. But I believe there are strong reasons to recreate it:

• Small Device C Compiler is included in Debian starting from 2002, and FreeBSD starting from 2004.

• It has good statistics on SourceForge (highest rank is 41 at Aug 2006, stable 6000 downloads per month).

• It is mentioned in 5 books according to Google Books, and has about 70 hits on Google Scholar.

Really?! I thought that Andy Yuen created the Retargetable Concurrent Small C Compiler to be an open/free compiler for the 8051. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.34.247.170 (talk) 09:56, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

• It is the only open source C compiler for popular Microchip PIC16 and 8051 microcontrollers.

And a final note: I am recreating the article from scratch.

I suspect that whomever nominated it for deletion before will do the same again. The best defense against this will be to add a lot more information than there is now. Val42 03:37, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Of course, it should be expanded (that's why it's software-stub). But as far I understand it, bad quality of the article was one of the reasons for its deletion. So be careful! --Alsh 06:42, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

PIC support

Why PIC is mentioned as "Work is in progress on:".

I've been using it (SDCC with PIC) for years and it seems pretty complete and bug free, at least as much as most of the other processor ports.

It is not yet up to the standard of the other ports. pic14 is a complete mess. pic16 is much better, but it is far from passing the regression tests that the other tests pass. 86.46.29.21 (talk) 18:55, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

gcc

I thought that there was a gcc target for the 8051, which would make SDCC not the only open source compiler? Gah4 (talk) 04:52, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
