I have changed the American English Kilometer to the British English Kilometre. As this is not an international topic (where we generally apply the rule of everyone follow the type of english (AE, BE)which the first author used) but refers to a topic in a location in a part of the world where people use BE (or Hiberno-English) it seems logical, as in other British and Irish pages, to use BE and HE rather than AE. This page’s map is in French

The map on this page comes from the French Wikipedia. It easily translates into English via Wikimedia Common's provided tools. What’s the best way to maintain the French version and provide an English version? It occurs to me to upload the translation, with all the same credentials, as a new file and link the English wiki page to it instead. But how would you do it? Edit request: add The Skelligs (2020) to In culture

Declaring a conflict of interest: I edit on behalf of the photographer Peter Cox and am not editing the article directly.

The In culture section already covers books about the island — Adam Nicolson's Seamanship and Emma Donoghue's Haven — alongside the films shot there. A photographic book seems to me to belong in the same list, and I would propose adding after the Nicolson sentence:

The photographer Peter Cox published The Skelligs: Islands on the Edge of the World in 2020, a collection photographed on and around the islands over nearly a decade.

I am a bit on the edge here...I would like to see a little more "impact" by the work in question, let's say a little more reach. So I am fine with documentaries and the movies, but actually don't think books (regardless of quality or artistic value) belong in the article. To expand a bit on what I said...the "in (popular) culture" parts of articles about real world locations are always a bit difficult. Yes, but op has a point in that it is one of the best published photography surveys of the island. I wrote most of the current page and dislike in-pop culture sections as much as the next man, but would like to give a pass in this instance given the quality, and that they were upfront about it. I get your supposed survey of the "Great Blasket and Valentia island and about Dingle" articles, but so what if lesser other stuff exists. :Ceoil (talk) 23:45, 3 September 2026 (UTC)
