Three disease of sim’s position 197.215.23.144 (talk) 04:08, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

From the article: This position was used originally on enslaved women without their consent during slavery in the United States. - Unsure what this is supposed to mean. Needs clarifying or removing. 80.208.217.172 (talk) 80.208.217.172 (talk) 09:34, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I believe whoever wrote that is referring to Sims, who is often called the father of gynecology, inventing gynecology techniques by experimenting on slaves. I personally think that detail is relevant, but I think the tone in this section of the article is inappropriate. Actiasluuna (talk) 17:00, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Legs bent

[edit]

"Sims' position has the person lying on the left side, with the left hip and lower extremity straight, and the right hip and knee bent. It is also called lateral recumbent position.[3] Sims' is sometimes the person lying on the left side with both legs bent" - The images all show patients that have both legs bent!~2026-32980-30 (talk) 18:42, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
