Early history

There's nothing on the early history of the company. Sigma Designs produced a variety of video cards for IBM PC clones, including some that incorporated sound and CD-ROM controllers. One model integrated a Pro Audio Spectrum 16 with Trantor SCSI controller. Curiously, the company also produced a version of that board minus all the video components, making it functionally identical to MediaVision's PAS 16 card with SCSI. AFAIK, nobody else made a video card with a SCSI interface capable of having a hard drive (or other SCSI devices besides a CD-ROM) connected, though it only supported data transfer speeds equivalent to 4x CD-ROM.
