Insufficient "Reception" section

[edit]

Hi, I've read the article and overall it's very good, but the "Reception" section needs a lot of work. First, in the table there are many reviews (such as IGN, Eurogamer, GameSpot, Digital Trends among others) but in the text there is only the Metacritic score and nothing else. It would be good to complement the section more with different reviews so it doesn't look bland. That's why I call on @TheJoebro64: who contributed and created the article to solve this problem. 181.204.42.146 (talk) 18:22, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Change X in "Sonic X Shadow"?

[edit]

I have the game for PS4, and the voice activation command option for Sonic x Shadow Generations doesn't include the "x", indicating the title is pronounced "Sonic Shadow Generations", which is similar to titles such as Hunter × Hunter and Spy × Family. The Japanese title also uses the × symbol. Should it be changed? User:SubZeroSilver (talk) 01:34, 22 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Shadow GenerationsSonic X Shadow Generations – This is a scope change for this article. Sonic X Shadow Generations, as a bundle, already has a lot of coverage in this article, so the article is in an in-between state anyway. While SxSG is covered here and in the original Sonic Generations article, I believe it's notable enough to merit a separate article. Oppose. The article is still primarily focused on Shadow Generations, and all releveant information about the Sonic half's changes is already on the Sonic Generations article where it makes more sense. Changing the scope would not be an improvement to the existing article in any way, much the same as trying to change the scope of Bowser's Fury would not be an improvement on that article. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 15:30, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Comment For what its worth, the current set up mirrors how we handled Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury. I think that approach makes more sense. Outside of the new content, the rest of the new coverage is essentially basic "the graphics are slightly better" and "release date" type commentary. • Oppose It's similar logic to the Bowser's Fury page, which wasn't released as a standalone. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 09:45, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Support or merge: Shadow’s “game” is just extra content for sonic generations. The game’s achivement list makes this clear. Where the “two games” is just one game achievement list for 1000g. Not two games. Or one game and a dlc. At best shadows content is “dlc”. It’s in no way its own game (it can’t even be bought on its own) I push more for just merging it into sonic generations than making a sonic x shadow page. Muur (talk) 15:29, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
How would that improve the article? It has entirely different gameplay, the story is as long as Generations itself, and they have different reviews. Instead of two articles of reasonable length, we'd wind up with one extremely long bloated article that has to constantly bounce back and forth between two completely different subjects, and that's not actually helpful to readers. Not to mention the Sonic and Shadow halves of the remaster are separate EXE files in the PC version, making them LITERALLY two different games. (Also, downloadable content gets its own articles all the time.) -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 17:11, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I mean a page for the remake is fine is the remake page has enough to be on its own. regardless I don't want shadow gen as its own page.Muur (talk) 18:49, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, even as the person behind this RM, I'm scratching my head over Muur's rationale here. Toast of Fatetalk to me! 20:26, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
that sonic generations and sonic x shadow generations are games, whilst shadow is not. therefore, merge shadow gen into sonic x shadow.Muur (talk) 00:10, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
...do you have any actual wiki precedent or policy to back up your stance, or it is just your personal interpretation based on the achievement list? -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 00:24, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I mean you also can't get it on its own. The actual game is Shadow X Shadow. Muur (talk) 06:15, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
...so again, just personal interpretation? Despite the existence of the entire DLC category, or articles like Bowser's Fury (which you can also get on its own)? I don't think your argument is a strong as you think it is. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 12:41, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
