Obscurity of words used in examples
[edit]While some examples given undisputably exhibit brilliant play, should we consider that Scrabble is played (and the article is read) by people of all levels, many of whom may not know words such as YEX/REVOTING, (ALI)QUANT, YEU(K)Y, and ETAERIO? Perhaps the examples should use only everyday words where possible: SEX/MOTORING, (CON)QUEST, any common word with a K, and any common seven-letter word. Cheers, cmɢʟee⎆τaʟκ 10:36, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- I replaced this example with an example board using relatively common (albeit high-scoring) words in order to illustrate how scoring works, especially with plays involving multiple premium squares or multiple words. Moreover, the example is also intended to illustrate the many ways that words can be formed (by playing through tiles, extending previous words, playing parallel to existing words, "hooking" onto words, etc.). Scrabble records
[edit]The "records" section uses very outdated sources, and the records should be standardized to use the two major English lexicons currently in use: NWL (including OTCWL, TWL, etc.), and CSW (including SOWPODS, OSW). The NASPA wiki is probably the most authoritative source that is also maintained.

The luck factor
[edit]Everything Scrabble by Joe Edley and John D. Williams Jr., 2001, p.224, POCKET BOOKS, ISBN 9780671042189, reports that in a two-person game, their estimation is that a game outcome is based on luck 15 percent of the time and for a three- or four-person game, it is as much as 40 percent of the time.

the tiny numbers on the tiles
[edit]Maybe the numbers on the letter tiles are the score, for example: A¹, E¹, I¹, S¹, O¹. Is it the score when I made the word or something? IronSculkJungle7643 (talk) 17:17, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
