Pepper tree berries

[edit]

Does anyone know if the berries from the pepper tree can be eaten? After all they do smell like pepper if crushed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.237.201.127 (talk) 20:43, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

@125.237.201.127 They are used as the spice "pink peppercorn". However, their potential toxicity needs further study. yoyo (talk) 23:37, 3 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation

[edit]

How is the New Latin genus name pronounced?:

  • as in Greek
  • with a hard /k/ sound, as in "ski"
  • with a soft /sh/ sound, as in "she"
