Serious wrong information

[edit]

“Mahmud was elected to parliament from Chandpur-1 as an Awami League candidate on 7 January 2024. He was elected unopposed after 18 opposition parties led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party boycotted the election over government crackdown and unfair conditions for the election.”

In the above report, ‘He was elected unopposed’ is absolutely incorrect. It was a contested election and two other candidates (in total three candidates) were in the election in that constituency. The footnote that was showing a press report which was almost 10 years old report of Al Jazeera 2 December 2013. Please have a look at footnote 2/3. It is true that some political parties including BNP had boycotted the January 2024 elections, but there was no crackdown before or during the election. Please correct the information on this page to make it a neutral and non- partisan report. ~2026-19639-68 (talk) 23:11, 30 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
