Discovery

Hi, Johnjbarton. Thanks for the edits!! I'm so pleased editors are turning up to fix my clumsy writing.

Regarding this edit:

The source says "...The discovery, by astronomers using Chile's Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), of the galaxy cluster labeled SPT2349-56 challenges our understanding of how quickly galaxies and galaxy clusters were able to form...." A slightly odd way of writing. But does it say essentially "...It was discovered by astronomers at the Atacama Large Millimeter Array in northern Chile...." which is what the article now says?

No, "the discovery" refers to specific characteristics of the cluster at the distance from Earth. Read the paper, the cluster was already known. Johnjbarton (talk) 20:44, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

My goodness, you're right. It is a bit fuzzy, that sentence, isn't it. Anyhow, thank you. I've added another ref to support the correct discoverer. That link has a fair bit more info that is not in the article now. Thanks again, my friend. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:56, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
