Problem
[edit]We have a problem. Conder, 1890, p. 33 writes "Ragabam is, I think, clearly Rujib (Sheet XIV), and Roma, el Ormeh (Sheet XIV)."
Now, the only Rujib that I, (or the SWP index) can find is this one, on Sheet XI. (And the only el Orme that I, (or the SWP index) can find is on SWP XV!) Typos by Conder? Cheers, Huldra (talk) 08:48, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
- Conder, C. R. (1890). "Norman Palestine". Quarterly statement - Palestine Exploration Fund. 22: 29–37.
- Why do you think that's a problem? These sheets share a corner and the two places are only about 3 miles apart. Zerotalk 14:55, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
- Heh? Now I just don´t understand you. Conder writes that is Rujib is on (Sheet XIV). There is no Rujib on (Sheet XIV) .....that I can find. There is one on Sheet XI. So shall we take it that it is a typo from Conder? Ditto for Roma/el Ormeh. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 15:55, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
- I don't understand myself either, so that's ok ;). I don't find any other Rujib. However, I do find crusader "Roma" identified as Khirbet al-Ruma (10km north of Nazareth) by Pringle, Secular, p119, and a few older sources. Zerotalk 00:48, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ok, I assume this a Conder typo, and he means *this* Rujeib. (It is also mentioned in SWP III, p. 11 as Ragabam, but that page does not give map-number.)
- As for Roma/el Ormeh: yeah, we should go with Pringle. El Ormeh is not a village anyway, it is a ruin close to Aqraba / Yanun. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 19:08, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
