The sentence: Ruizite's structure consists of edge-sharing Mnφ₆ octahedra, connected at corners into sheets and together into a lattice by clusters of Si₄O₁₁(OH)₂. could use a bit of explanation (rather jargon heavy). In particular, the Mnφ₆ ... what is φ? The reference abstract (no access to full paper) doesn't explain much. The further reading source (Moore, et al.) simply states: Φ : anion not associated with a tetrahedron and further usually OH.
